What is Social Health? Unit Description:

Social health is one of the three major aspects of total health.  In the social health unit, we will examine the ways in which one’s social roles and cultural beliefs can influence total health status.  The most significant and influential social subunit, the family, will be discussed in detail, as will peer relationships, interpersonal communication, relationship violence, and conflict resolution.

Social health refers to how well you get along with others.  When you are socially healthy, you have loving relationships, respect the rights of others, and give and accept help.  Building healthy relationships with family members, making and keeping friends, and communicating your needs to others are all important for social health.
