College Representative Visits
We are fortunate to have representatives from colleges and universities from all over the country and all over the world visit our campus each year to present information to interested students. We encourage seniors to take advantage of these opportunities to engage in meaningful discussion about their college choices.

The following policy is in place to ensure that our entire community benefits from this program:
- College and university presentations are open to Grade 12 students who are currently involved in the college search process. (Grade 11 students may attend a college presentation only if the presentation occurs during a free period.)
- Scheduled visits for college representatives will be posted regularly on the college counseling page of the Milken website and in the Daily Bulletin.
- During the week before each representative is scheduled to visit, a sign-up sheet will be available in the Office of College Counseling. Seniors who wish to attend a college presentation must sign up by the end of lunch three days prior to the scheduled presentation.
- At the end of lunch three days prior to the visit, the Office of College Counseling will provide senior teachers with a list of students who will need to miss all or part of a class in order to attend a college presentation. This list will be transmitted to teachers via e-mail.
- Students who missed the cut-off to sign up for a college presentation may attend a college presentation only if they ask their teacher for permission to be excused from class. If a student has missed the cut-off but secures permission from his/her teacher, then he/she must bring a note to the presentation and hand it in to the college counselor present at the presentation. If a student who missed the cut-off does not bring a note, he/she will be sent back to class - no exceptions.
- Teachers reserve the right to refuse permission for a student or students to miss class for a college presentation for any reason
The faculty have been informed of this policy and are very much aware of the procedures governing this policy. They have indicated that they will be as supportive as possible of a student's attendance at these college presentations. The Office of College Counseling, in turn, supports teachers in using their discretion as they see fit.
Attending a presentation by a college representative is a privilege and should be treated as such. It is expected that you will abide by this policy “to the letter.” Please remember that college representatives are guests on campus who are providing a service. They should be given the same amount of attention and respect as given to teachers. In addition, all Milken policies governing general classroom behavior and conduct are in effect during a college presentation. This includes, but is not limited to, rules pertaining to dress code, food and drink, and the use of cell phones, and MP3 players.
