CSU Application Filing Period

The filing period for the CSU application is November 1-30.  The preferred application method is via the Internet.

The CSU GPA

Your CSU GPA is not the same as your Milken GPA for three reasons:

(1) Only your tenth and eleventh grade grades are calculated in the CSU GPA, while your Milken GPA also includes your ninth grade grades.

(2) CSU does not incorporate pluses and minuses, only whole letter grades.

(3) CSU weighs only honors courses taken in the junior year, while Milken weighs all honors courses.

Test Scores

Test scores are required unless you have a grade point average above 3.0.  Even if you have a GPA above 3.0, it is useful to take either an SAT or ACT as the score may indicate if you do not need to take English and math placement tests after you are admitted and before you enroll at CSU.

CSU  Eligibility

Admission offices at the 23 campuses use three factors to determine eligibility.  Most applicants who are admitted meet the standards in each of the following areas:

Please note that you must complete and submit a separate application for each CSU campus to which you apply.

Impacted Majors and Campuses

A major or campus is "impacted" if more applications are received in the initial filing period than can be accommodated by the campus.  If you are applying to an impacted major or campus, you may be subject to supplemental admission criteria or higher eligibility standards.  Each campus makes its own decisions regarding impaction.  For more information, go to http://www.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/majors_that_have_higher_standards.asp.

Teacher Recommendations, Essays, Secondary School Reports, and Transcripts

CSU does not require teacher recommendations, essays, or secondary school reports.  You do NOT need to send your transcript with your CSU application unless it is specifically requested.  Otherwise, it will be sent during the final stages of the admission process.
