Behavioral Probation
A student may be placed on behavioral probation if he/she earns four points or more (N =1, U=2) in conduct on a progress report. A student can also be placed on behavioral probation at the discretion of the assistant principal if the student’s behavior demonstrates disregard for the spirit of the standards and expectations of the community.
Behavioral probation generally includes removal from a school activity or privilege until the student has demonstrated full compliance to the school’s expectations.
Academic Probation
Middle School
If a Middle School student begins to show serious decline in a particular subject and/or is not meeting the academic or behavioral expectations of the class, the teacher will notify the student, advisor, Middle School Principal, and parent. After discussion, the student may be placed on academic or behavioral probation.
It will be determined by the Middle School Principal if the student on academic or behavioral probation will be allowed to participate in athletics, musical productions, dramatic productions, field trips, assemblies, and/or other special activities during the time of probation.
Upper School
Academic probation makes a student ineligible for participation in any extra-curricular activity for a minimum of three weeks. In the Upper School, a student may be placed on academic probation if he/she earns a progress report that has either below a 2.0 GPA, any D or F, or four points or more (N =1, U=2) in work habits. This may result in a conference between the student, parents, and Assistant Principal or administrator to formulate an improvement plan. In addition, one or more of the following may result:
There may be a follow up conference at the end of the quarter to assess progress. If a student remains on academic probation, the student may lose late arrival/early dismissal privileges, may be removed from extracurricular activities, and there may be a conference between the student, parents, Assistant Principal, and Upper School Principal to discuss the student's continuation at the school.
