Milken Community High School's
Garin Program

Garin is a program designed to connect Milken students to the land of Israel on a personal level. 20 Milken students travel to Israel in the summer where they join forces with 20 Israeli students. Together they explore the country from the Negev (Ben Gurion's vision for the State of Israel) to the Golan Heights. Students learn first hand what it means to be an Israeli. They learn about modern day challenges that the state faces. Together, Israeli and American teenagers learn how they can make the situation better and how to be stronger leaders.
Students experience a variety of situations together: from rafting down Jordan river, to observing Syria from the Israeli bunker, to understanding the troubles of impoverished Negev community of Yarukham, to experiencing the Shuk in Old Town of Jerusalem. Together, students get the appreciation for the time scale of the Jewish State through traveling through the 4 thousand years old tunnels of the City of David and observing the new construction on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

The students are responsible for the airfare and $400 supplemental deposit.
